Price

During cold weather, current natural gas supply pipelines to New Jersey and New York are full, so small demand changes cause dramatic price spikes.  Additional supply and infrastructure provided by the BlueOcean Energy LNG (liquefied natural gas) project can help reduce swings in natural gas prices by relieving existing capacity constraints.

•  "Additional pipeline or LNG import capacity would increase supply and reduce frequency or severity of winter price spike episodes."  (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission)

•  "Access to world natural gas supplies will require a major expansion of LNG terminal import capacity.  Without the flexibility such facilities will impart, imbalances in supply and demand must inevitably engender price volatility."  (Alan Greenspan)

•  "The region remains constrained at several points on its natural gas system.  New supplies and infrastructure will help to ease those constraints and help to mitigate the regional price disadvantage on energy."  (Northeast Gas Association)
